161004 Soyul To Halt Activities Due To Anxiety Disorder

Chrome Entertainment has officially announced it on the fancafe, as follows:

Hello, this is Chrome Entertainment.
We have to inform everyone that Crayon Pop’s member, Soyul will have to temporarily halt team activities due to health problems.

During the production of Crayon Pop’s full album, Soyul had complained of symptoms such as inexplicable headaches and suffering from breathing difficulties. She managed to prepare the album during the cover and MV filming despite suffering from these symptoms. When it was time for the official comeback, although we were hoping for Soyul’s symptoms to turn for the better, the symptoms became more serious while undergoing promotions, to the point of her not being able to stand up before the stage. According to the hospital’s diagnosis, Soyul is suffering from the early stages of anxiety disorder as a result of chronic fatigue, and was advised to undergo rest.

Following that, with Soyul, the members and the company had an emergency meeting on 3 October after an official schedule. We seriously discussed the inclusion of Soyul. We decided that from the second week of the comeback, Soyul will be taken out of broadcasts, and the remaining four members, Geummi, Choa, Way and Ellin will carry on “DooDooChit” activities.

For us to make such a difficult decision in the first week after comeback due to a sudden change of circumstances, be it herself or all the other Crayon Pop members and staff, cannot help but be sad. However, with the present situation, we believe Soyul’s health is of utmost priority. We have promised to aid in her recovery as best as we can, and promise that Soyul will return to “DooDoomChit” activities when her condition turns for the better, as well as express our apologies towards the members and the fans. Following that, the four members have urgently tweaked the choreography of “DooDoomChit” so as to replace Soyul’s spot, while training overnight tirelessly. Please support the four member stage of “DooDoomChit”.

We wish there will the day where the full “DooDoomChit” lineup will arrive quickly, as well as ask the Sketchbook fans, who love and protect Crayon Pop, for their forgiveness and understanding.

On October 3, Chrome Entertainment announced, “Soyul has started to suffer from severe anxiety disorder. She will be halting all her promotions and Crayon Pop will continue with 4 members for the time being.” The label continued, “During their preparation for ‘Evolution Pop‘, she was diagnosed with the anxiety disorder. Her return will be discussed after she recovers from her condition.”

Oh this is sad. Get well soon Soyul, take your time, and remember we’ll always be right here waiting.

  • Jair__castillo

Oh poor soyul :’c this makes me sad :(,Since she closed her instagram , I thought it was a little strange, perhaps it is because school also.
I hope he recovers soon!. :C

  • Kid-Simple

Poor Soyul. I hope the public is supportive of her even if it’s not an outwardly visible condition.

  • Firefall

Soyul get well soon! Soyul Fighting! Crayon Pop Fighting!

  • apieth

😭😭😭😭😭 poor Soyul. I hope you get well soon

  • Juliana Pinzon

Soyul, you’re one of the strongest in Crayon Pop,, i hope you are ok soon and you come back healthy and full of energy..! #fightingSoyul.

  • Giang Nguyễn Hoàng

    Please rest well 😿😿😿

  • Jannina_N

Love you Soyul Please get well soon 🙁

  • Drakis07

That make me sad, but too be honest i’m not surprise by the news. I’ve always remarked that Soyul was a quiet, shy and reserved person. I think too that she is maybe not comfortable with her own body too and that why she always hide her legs and curves and wear long skirt. Being under the public eyes can very stressful when you are not confident with your-self and how you look. Being far from the public eyes for a long time must not has helped too after the comeback. I hope that she find the strengh and confidence in her-self to pass over her mental illness and comeback with Crayon Pop soon. As a person who already had mental illness, i’m all behind her to support her. Let’s just pray that it won’t take too long for her to recover and that won’t make her quit Crayon Pop. A Crayon pop without Soyul will be very sad.

    • RalphieB

I thought the same. In one of her Dream Team wrestling specials, she looked like she was having a panic attack watching one of her members wrestle. Sad, but hopefully she can learn to manage it.

    • Mygiwi

She has also closed her Instagram, maybe for this reason . All that combined makes me a little bit worried. But Soyul will recover from this difficult pass. And we will find the lively and bubbly girl that we have all known. 😉😘

    • Nando

I thought the same about her, she always cover her legs, but i’ve seen those legs in some videos and in my opinion soyul has the 2nd best legs after geummi so i don’t know how she would feel uncomfortable. Anyways the only thing that matters now is to heal, i want them always happy so it breaks my heart to read this news.

  • ezekiel

no…..TT.. love you baby.. get well soon..

  • robertrickett

I’ve suffered Anxiety disorder, it can be scary. Is Crayon Pop.me going to put together a Love Package for Soyul. I would love to contribute, Please, let us know.

    • Firefall

If there’s one, I would like to contribute too.

    • Giang Nguyễn Hoàng

      Me too

    • Dennis

It is time to show our strength. We must rally the troops and help our own beloved Soyul. If we fail, we stand for nothing.

If someone she trusts can open a GoFundMe account, we could raise tens of thousands of dollars for her treatment and care overnight. She wouldn’t have
to worry about money or expenses for a very long time. It would be my honor to donate. My privilege. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/415880d0a1f2a2cbc0f7d7964a088ecec29e7ef68361730024d03f0320b352ba.jpg

      • dukpoki

what a gorgeous picture of her.

      • The Finn

That brought tears to my eyes. I’m in.

  • dukpoki

This is the worst news. Soyul please get well. I don’t care how long it takes. Don’t rush anything and heal first before trying to please others. Don’t feel pressured and don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed. I have depression issues myself. I’d say a whole lot of people around the world do. Fighting Soyul!

  • David Ruiz

I’m sad, That depresses me. 😭😭😭

  • ezekiel

“During their preparation for ‘Evolution Pop‘, she was diagnosed with the anxiety disorder.” maybe this is the reason, why their comeback being delayed..TT

    • ezekiel

and i remember soyul(or the member, i can’t remember) said, she hope no one get sick in their promotion.. maybe this is also the reason she said that..

      • Firefall

The poster of Geummi holding Soyul’s hand, was that just a cute pose, or was Geummi trying to calm Soyul? I don’t know and probably will never know, but now so many photos, videos.. everything.. seem to reveal a special hidden message. I don’t know how real these messages are, but it is something we can try to keep an eye on in the future. If anyone notice something strange or unusual, we should not be afraid or feel embarrass to ask “Are you ok?”

    • dukpoki

you are probably right. Man you could be a good detective 🙂

  • Deplorable Bidnith

I feel so sad for Soyul, but also for the other girls. They worked so hard for this comeback. While we fans were happy that it seemed to be going so well for them, we now find out that one of the members is hurting and unable to go on.

I don’t have any other experience with being in a “fan club” since Crayon Pop is the only group I ever cared enough about to follow on a regular basis. But I feel like things are different with them. Just seeing what they had to go through to get this far bonded me to them in a way I had never experienced before.

They had to fight so hard to make it to where they are and they showed us how they did it through CPTV. Because I could feel their pain striving for success, it made me feel like I was a part of it because I witnessed the trials they endured, even though I didn’t even know about them until after BBB had become a hit.

And with their fans. All you need to do is read the comments on youtube videos for Crayon Pop as opposed to other K-Pop groups and it’s easy to see that Crayon Pop fans are the nicest and most respectful of any group commenting there.

I feel like every other Crayon Pop fan here on this site probably feels pretty much the same way i do, regardless of what stage of their career they were at when you found them.

Now, more than ever we need to offer our support, encouragement and best wishes to Soyul, the other girls and the Chrome organization. No matter what the outcome is, I will trust the people involved to make what they think are the best decisions and I will continue to support them, no matter what.

    • ezekiel

      well said.. TT

im curious why soyul always look upward after smile ?

  • Giang Nguyễn Hoàng

The good side is Chrome seems to put their idol health first priority. I hope Soyul will recover soon

  • GBuster

Well that sucks. This group just cant catch a break.

  • Jair__castillo

I do not care if you come back in a week, a month, a year, I just want you are fine. We need your smile to be fine, I know it sounds kind of selfish, even so your fans are for you, many joys of my life are due to Crayon Pop “. I hope you take good care and that everybody will protect you.
we will be waiting with arms open, we little warrior <3 https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/10367c6a8611763e3f0514a657231e6343200b8dcb0940e6243c4c8e16e02303.jpg

  • h4iumb1

So she performed yesterday at Nakdong Peace Culture Celebration and tried to get through it despite feeling sick. 😢

    • ezekiel

      she’s a fighter..

  • Daebak Jjang

I can’t even begin to pretend that I know what she’s going through and I hate to speculate about the reasons why since we don’t really know the full answer. All I can do is hope for her full recovery. It becomes more important that we show our support to the other 4 members during their promotions as their work load increases and let’s hope that they stay in good health as well. I know that the maknae will be in their minds while promoting so let’s cheer for them louder in place of Hyekyung!!!

  • Frothy

Soyul, remember your challenge long ago of being scared to ride a bicycle, after an earlier incident?
Your team was behind you, holding your seat as your peddled, giving you support as you rode off.

We once again all stand behind you, supporting you on this new challenge, remembering your health is the # 1 factor.
Take your time as hopefully will see you in the future!

    Lots of love

  • CP Hwaiting

Cant believe this!!..This makes me really sad..

  • BA

I really hope it’s just few days or a week. 🙁 Without Soyul Crayon Pop not the same.

  • Rob B

I can’t imagine what all of these girls are going through. I think a lot of people don’t understand the massive changes that have occurred in their company. Almost everyone has either left or moved on. Add that to not promoting in Korea for over a year and making this album themselves. They’ve endured quite a lot. I see a lot of “they all look nervous on stage” by some people, and seeing as what they’ve gone through, you can see why.

I hope Soyul can manage this, because anxiety is no fun. Just to give people an idea, I have a friend who has it and worst case scenario, will disappear for months before an episode will go away. He doesn’t want to see anyone or talk to anyone at all. Now imagine being an idol with fans, it’s probably multiplied at least by 10x. If this is a true medical diagnosis, I really hope she gets through this and wish her the best.

  • Capa

Don’t you worry about us or the album, Soyul. We’re not going anywhere, and the album’s perfect as it is. You just take as long as you need to rest.

  • Wen de Huang

    Health is important get well
    Soon soyul
Sad to see this news 😭

kudos to chrome!!!! great job, what a company.. i was worried when CEO hwang step down.. but now i know the company still a great company for “human”.

  • Jason Park

Sending love and warmth to you Soyul.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

  • M Arif Zainuddin

soyul be healty, dont worry about promotions, we will always support crayon pop

  • rotocrash
  • Wojcik117

    That’s so overwhelming… Let’s pray for her well-being.

  • Potae

I have also been recently suffering from health problems due to anxiety right before i started my Junior year of college. I probably suffer from the same breathing problems as her. We will both have to suffer from this, but I hope that we can both overcome it. In the mean time, I hope the other members can successfully promote the new album.

  • Wojcik117
  • robertrickett

I’m glad the current Chrome Staff are putting Soyul’s health as a priority. It’s seems as soon as they ended their showcase, their schedule went from inactivity to jammed overnight. I”m hoping the management will regulate the girls activities to a healthy pace and trust they will. Reading the comments, I’m impressed with the patience and support of the fans. Thank you all for loving our girls, unselfishly.

  • dukpoki

I’m just gonna leave this here.

*Cries* Soyul We love you~ T.T

  • vericon

This is a punch in the gut, kpop is a source of escape and joy for me and over time I’ve come to really like my favorites and Soyul has always been at the top of my bias list…it isn’t even close. She’s so pretty/talented/everything…she’s a treasure, one of the last people I would ever wish something bad on. I truly hope that this is a turning point for her and that she gets the help she needs. I also hope that, like other members have mentioned, we can band together and do something for her.

  • Corpus

WE SUPPORT OUR LOVELY SOYUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • david

Get well soon. Love you Soyul. Healing !!! <3

  • Buckle Up Let’s Go!

Godspeed for your recovery Soyul, take your time, love from around the world surrounds you.

  • Dennis

There are already broadcasts without Soyul on YouTube. The performance without her is very good but her absence is noticeable because her unique look added variety to to the group.

  • termyt

Don’t worry about us, just get well and be well. We will root for you where ever you are, no matter the distance between us.

  • every person need to recharge their battery, hope she’ll back with full of power. stay positive soyul!!

  • colin clarke

I have been on meds for many years due to panic attacks. The attacks are unspeakably awful — like a psychotic breakdown. I cannot imagine going onstage in such an emotional stage. All I want to do I curl up into a ball, clutch my head and rock back and forth. Your brain is literally screaming at you — but all around you, everything looks normal. That disconnect makes you even more panicky. It’s like you have been injected with liquid fear, and you just have to ride it out. Meds are a tremendous help, but they don’t cure it. Stop the meds and the attacks come back.

I have to say that the other girls are also looking more fragile than I have ever seen them. It’s not just Soyul. I am really worried also about ChoA. To me, Way is the only one who seems relatively healthy. OMG, good luck to them. I am so sad because of this.

I was thinking that Chrome might want to temporarily have a stand-in for Soyul. I would think it would have to be a member of another KPOP group who would CLEARLY not be seen as an outside invader capitalizing on Soyul’s distress. Chrome would have to emphasize that upfront, or there would be a huge backlash among the fans — and rightly so! Someone to help out in a time of trouble. Someone with there own career to go back to. Also someone who the girls really liked and respected. One of the other companies might step forward with a volunteer. I really like Jisoo Tahiti, and I think the other girls like her too. Crayon Pop could use some help right now. They given us so much over the years ^^

  • Drakis07

I see that lot of us has or already had mental illness. I really hope for Soyul that she not only get meds but take a therapy too. Both are important for a full control and recovery. My mental illness case is rather special since my mental illness called borderline personality disorder is very complex and still not well known. I won’t describe it here because it would be too long (just google it) but i can say that it’s more complex then anxiety disorder. It took me like almost 3 year of meds and long hours of therapy to learn to control it and live a normal life and to be fully functional again. I still have it and will have it the rest of my life, but now it is perfectly controlled with no meds just with the tools i made from the therapy. So i’m sure that if Soyul get therapy with the meds she will be fine.

What is worry me thought is that now she will have 2 hard questions to answer. Does she still want to be a singer again and still be part of Crayon pop? or Does she will want to live a normal life far from the public eyes? That is still a possibility depend on how deep and big is her anxiety disorder, that that she decide that the idol life is too much for her and too stressful to go on and quit Crayon pop and Chrome. I know that i will be very very very sad if that happen, but it’s something who can happen, so i will pray and wish that it will never happen. No matter what Soyul will do i will always love and support her, because i just want her to be happy.

lol Sorry for the long post, i just wanted to get all those thoughts out of my head lol 😛
