Each year in mid-March, Austin, Texas is host to thousands of artists. From global super stars to garage bands, anyone who is or aspires to be a part of the music industry gathers in Austin for the annual SXSW Music, Tech, and Film conference. The conference is notorious for being the most accurate predictor of music’s biggest breakout artists each year, and this year was no different.
For the third time in a row, SXSW hosted a showcase called “K-pop Night Out,” bringing both rising and established acts from Korea to perform on the same stage. One of those acts this year was Crayon Pop.
When they walked into the interview room, Geummi, Soyul, Ellin, and twins Way and Choa were so energetic you would hardly suspect that they had just gotten off of a 16 hour flight from Korea. Despite their more than hectic schedule, Crayon Pop set aside some time in their short trip to Austin to sit down with moonROK Editor-in-Chief Hannah Waitt to talk about traveling across America, their new single FM, and more. Check it out below.
